Vancouver home energy rebates and loans

The city’s Heritage Multi-Unit Retrofit Grant offers grants of up to $5,000. For an air-source heat pump, rebates add up to $5,000 today from the Home Renovation Rebate Program and the BC Hydro Air Source Heat Pump Bonus Rebate (Fall 2026). The federal National Heat Pump Rebate will add $2,000, or up to $10,000 below the median income, once it opens.

Vancouver has Canada’s mildest big-city winters, which suits air-source heat pumps well. Only about one home in seven is a single-detached house; most people live in apartments and condos, and many older houses have been split into suites. Natural gas and electricity heat roughly equal shares of homes in the region.
