Installing a home EV charger

General advice. Each program’s own rules come first.

Check your panel first
A Level 2 charger needs a 240-volt circuit. An electrician can tell you if your panel has room or if load management will avoid an upgrade.
Keep the permit and invoice
Rebates usually need proof of professional installation and an electrical permit.
Check the eligible list
Many programs only pay for certified, networked or listed charger models.
