Home energy loans in Canada
25 current programs across Canada pay for home energy upgrades, in 10 provinces and territories including 1 federal program. The largest is HomeSave Central Kootenays Retrofit Rebate and Loan Access, at up to $5,000 in Regional District of Central Kootenay, Nelson and other areas, British Columbia.
With the federal Greener Homes Loan closed, financing now comes from municipal property-tax programs (CEIP/PACE), utility on-bill loans and a few provincial options. These can cover what rebates don't. We compare rates, terms and who qualifies.

Using rebate financing well
General advice. Each program’s own rules come first.
- Loans don't reduce your cost
- Loans spread the cost out; rebates and grants reduce it. Count them separately when you compare offers.
- Read the repayment terms
- Municipal programs often attach repayment to your property tax bill. Check what happens if you sell the home.
- Line up the rebates first
- Many loans cover your costs before rebates arrive. Make sure the rebate applications are in order so the loan isn't larger than you need.
Get up to 3 quotes
Tell us where you live and what you’re planning. We’ll send your request to up to 3 installers who know the local rebate paperwork.
We’re independent. We never take rebate applications or charge you to apply; always apply through the official program.
Request quotes
Free, no obligation. We pass your request to up to 3 independent installers who serve your area and, where a program requires it, are registered with it.
- 1. Your project
- 2. Your contact details
- Installers checked against your program’s contractor list, where it has one
- Installers pay us, never you
- Sent to up to 3 installers who serve your area. We don't sell or rent lists.
