Accessibility statement

Everyone should be able to find the rebates they qualify for. We build RebateHub to be usable with a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or voice control, on any screen size, and we want to hear about anything that gets in your way.

Our commitment

RebateHub is committed to giving people with disabilities the same access to information and services as everyone else, in a way that respects their dignity and independence. We follow the principles of Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and similar laws in other provinces, even where they don’t yet apply to a business of our size.

The standard we follow

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, and we adopt WCAG 2.2 success criteria where we can, such as larger touch targets and visible focus that isn’t hidden by sticky elements. We consider the site partially conformant: most of it meets the standard, and the limitations we know about are listed below.

What we’ve done

  • Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator and a logical reading order.
  • Pages use real headings, landmarks and lists, and program data is in tables with proper headers.
  • Text meets a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1, and status (open, closed, upcoming) is shown in words, not colour alone.
  • Every form field has a visible label; errors are announced and explain how to fix them.
  • Results that change as you answer the finder are announced to screen readers.
  • Motion is limited and turned off when your device asks for reduced motion.
  • Pages work at 320 pixels wide and when zoomed to 400%, and controls are at least 44 by 44 pixels.
  • Key pages, forms, the privacy policy and these terms are available in French, with the page language set correctly.

Known limitations

  • Some official program documents we link to, especially PDFs on government and utility sites, may not be accessible. We don’t control them, but we summarize the key rules on our own pages and will help you find the information.
  • Some images are still being added; until then, decorative placeholders are hidden from screen readers.
  • If we turn on analytics, the consent banner is new; tell us if it gets in your way.

Feedback and alternative formats

If something on RebateHub is hard to use, or you need information in another format (for example plain text, large print or a phone call to go through your options), contact us:

  • Email: hello@rebatehub.ca
  • Mail: 250 Consumers Rd, Suite 611, North York, ON M2J 4V6, Canada

Tell us the page address and what happened. We reply within 5 business days, and we provide alternative formats at no cost, in a timely way that takes your needs into account. Feedback can also be given in French.

How we check

We test new pages with automated tools and by hand: keyboard-only navigation, screen-reader checks, zoom and reflow, and colour contrast. We fix problems as part of normal work and review this statement at least once a year. Read our privacy policy and terms of use.
