What happened to the CleanBC Go Electric Passenger Vehicle Rebate
Funding runs out and the Province pauses the rebate
The Go Electric passenger vehicle rebate gave B.C. buyers an income-tested discount at the dealership on new battery-electric, fuel cell and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Funding ran through May 15, 2025, after which the Province paused the program while it reviewed next steps, citing the end of federal EV rebates and wider spending pressures.
At its peak, individuals with income under $80,000 could get up to $4,000 for a battery-electric, fuel cell or long-range plug-in hybrid, or $2,000 for a short-range plug-in hybrid, with smaller amounts up to $100,000 of income.
No restart has been announced. A separate rebate for commercial vehicles bought by businesses and organizations is available again in 2026. Households can still use the federal Electric Vehicle Affordability Program and BC Hydro's home charger rebate.
The full record, with every source we checked, is on the CleanBC Go Electric Passenger Vehicle Rebate program page. Every change we log is on the rebate tracker.

If you already applied
A closed program usually still honours files it accepted before the cut-off, on its own deadlines. Follow up with Province of B.C. directly: we don't take applications and can't check a file for you.
Planning new work? Some replacements need pre-approval or an energy assessment before anything is installed. Read the guide to stacking heat pump rebates for the order to do things in, and how to spot a rebate scam before you sign with anyone who mentions a "government program".
