How it works

BC Hydro is paying a temporary bonus on top of its regular electric-to-heat-pump rebates. Under the Home Renovation Rebate Program, a whole-home heat pump earns an extra $1,000 and a partial-home heat pump an extra $500. Under the Condo and Apartment Rebate Program, a ductless multi-split earns an extra $1,000 and a single mini-split an extra $500.

The installation must be completed, invoiced and paid in full between August 1 and October 31, 2026, and the complete rebate application must be in by November 30, 2026. Condo and apartment applicants need BC Hydro pre-approval before installing. The bonus is paid as a credit on your BC Hydro bill.

Funding is limited and handed out first-come, first-served. Total rebates cannot exceed the invoiced and paid cost. BC Hydro customers aged 19 or older can also enter a contest for one of three $5,000 prizes.

Who qualifies

  • BC Hydro customer in good standing, with any outstanding balance paid
  • Air source heat pump that replaces an existing electric heating system and meets the Home Renovation Rebate or Condo and Apartment Rebate requirements
  • Installation completed, invoiced and fully paid between August 1 and October 31, 2026
  • Complete rebate application submitted by November 30, 2026

How to apply

  1. Step 1: Have an HPCN contractor finish the installation and pay the invoice in full by October 31, 2026

  2. Step 2: Condo and apartment owners: get BC Hydro pre-approval before the work starts

  3. Step 3: Submit the regular heat pump rebate application by November 30, 2026; the bonus is assessed with it
