How it works

Since April 1, 2022, heat pumps have been exempt from B.C.'s provincial sales tax. At the same time, the province raised PST on fossil-fuel combustion systems that heat or cool buildings or water from 7% to 12%.

The saving is applied at the time of purchase; there is nothing to apply for. Budget 2026 removed several other PST exemptions on October 1, 2026, but heat pumps were not among them.

Who qualifies

  • Purchase of qualifying heat pump equipment in B.C.

How to apply

  1. Step 1: No application; check that PST is not charged on your heat pump invoice
