How it works

BC Hydro adds top-ups to its regular rebates for customers in select postal codes where electricity demand is growing fastest. Listed areas include select neighbourhoods in Vancouver west of Cambie, select neighbourhoods in Victoria, the Campbell Heights neighbourhood in Surrey, Abbotsford, Maple Ridge, Burke Mountain in Port Coquitlam, Vernon, West Kelowna, White Rock, Sun Peaks, Mount Lehman, select communities between Kelowna and Vernon, and the northeast Fraser Valley from Mission to Agassiz.

For homes switching from electric heating, the heat pump top-up is $4,000 for whole-home heating or $1,500 for partial-home heating, on top of the standard rebate of up to $4,000. BC Hydro adds the top-up to your rebate automatically based on the postal code of the installation address. Top-ups are also offered on heat pump water heaters, Level 2 EV chargers ($1,750, up to 100% of eligible costs, for single-family home charger rebates from August 4 to December 31, 2026) and select ENERGY STAR laundry appliances and fridges (100% of the regular rebate).

Who qualifies

  • You must be a BC Hydro residential customer at an address in an eligible postal code. Use the postal code checker on BC Hydro's page.
  • Heat pump and heat pump water heater top-ups apply to homes switching from electric heating or electric water heating, and the upgrade must meet the Home Renovation Rebate Program rules.
  • Heat pumps must be installed by a Home Performance Contractor Network member.

How to apply

  1. Step 1: Check your postal code on BC Hydro's community-based offers page.

  2. Step 2: Complete your upgrade with an eligible contractor and product.

  3. Step 3: Apply for the regular BC Hydro rebate online. The top-up is added automatically based on your installation address.
