How it works
FortisBC offers a low-interest loan to help its electricity customers move from an electric furnace or baseboard heaters to a high-efficiency central or variable-speed mini- or multi-split air source heat pump. You can borrow up to $6,500 at 1.9% interest and repay it over a 10-year term.
Both the main and backup heat in the home must be electric, and the heat pump must meet minimum efficiency ratings. Customers of the Grand Forks, Penticton, Summerland and Nelson Hydro municipal utilities are also eligible. The loan is not income-tested.
