How it works
The Vancouver Heritage Foundation runs this grant with City Green Solutions and Carbon Wise. It is for houses in Vancouver built before 1940 or listed on the Vancouver Heritage Register that have at least two dwelling units, or are being converted. Homes must be heated mainly by natural gas or oil and must switch space heating to a heat pump or hot water to electric.
The program covers pre- and post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluations and an embodied carbon analysis (valued at up to $8,000), plus a grant of up to $5,000 per building toward recommended upgrades. The program is looking for five homes. Applications are first-come, first-served, and the program closes when funds run out, pending more funding from the City of Vancouver.
