Saanich home energy rebates and loans

The district’s Home Energy Navigator offers free energy advice. For an air-source heat pump, rebates add up to $5,000 today from the Home Renovation Rebate Program and the BC Hydro Air Source Heat Pump Bonus Rebate (Fall 2026). The federal National Heat Pump Rebate will add $2,000, or up to $10,000 below the median income, once it opens.

Saanich is Greater Victoria’s largest municipality, mostly detached houses from the post-war decades onward on the edge of farmland and the Saanich Peninsula. Winters are mild and wet, which suits heat pumps well, and the District’s financing is aimed at homes still heated with oil, gas or propane.

How Strata Energy Advisor works

Open

The City of Victoria launched the Strata Energy Advisor program in 2024 with the District of Saanich and the Zero Emissions Innovation Centre (ZEIC). An energy advisor works with the strata council, reviews whole-building utility data, visits the building and a few suites, and prepares a free plan that times upgrades like heat pumps with replacements the building already needs.
