Furnace replacement cost in British Columbia after rebates (2026)

Last verified October 19, 2026 against official program pages. How we check

As of October 19, 2026, no program open today pays for a new gas furnace in B.C.. A new furnace typically costs $3,750 to $6,030 installed (a Canada-wide range: no B.C.-specific figure is published).

Replacing it with a cold-climate heat pump instead costs $7,000 to $16,000, and about $5,000 comes back from programs open today, so you’d pay about $2,000 to $11,000.

Every program here is listed on British Columbia home energy rebates. The biggest typical amount comes from Home Renovation Rebate Program. How programs combine is in our stacking guide.

Questions people ask

Natural gas furnace, installed: $3,750 to $6,030 (a Canada-wide range: no B.C.-specific figure is published), from Canadian Climate Institute (Dunsky technical report), checked October 17, 2026. Your installer’s quote decides the real price.

Not in our data as of October 19, 2026. Programs in B.C. now pay to replace a furnace with a heat pump instead.

Often, but check the order of steps first. Some programs need approval or an energy assessment before work starts, and a rebate can be lost by installing first. The National Heat Pump Rebate is meant for homes replacing a failed or end-of-life system, but it isn’t open yet.

Yes. In B.C., about $5,000 comes back from programs open today, through Home Renovation Rebate Program and BC Hydro Air Source Heat Pump Bonus Rebate (Fall 2026).

It is announced but not open as of October 19, 2026, so we don’t count it. If it opens before you install, it adds $2,000. Programs open today don’t need to wait.

Home size, existing ducts, the electrical panel, the brand and whether the installer removes old equipment all change the price. Compare at least two written quotes for the same scope.
