Burlington home energy rebates and loans

Burlington’s Better Homes Burlington is closed to new applications. For an air-source heat pump, Ontario’s Home Renovation Savings Program pays up to $7,500 if you heat with electricity, oil or propane, or $2,000 with natural gas. The federal National Heat Pump Rebate will add $2,000, or up to $10,000 below the median income, once it opens.

Burlington sits between Lake Ontario and the Niagara Escarpment, and a third of its homes were built in the 1960s and 70s, many of them detached houses and townhomes that predate modern insulation levels. Natural gas heats most homes, and the City owns its local electricity distributor, Burlington Hydro.
