Guelph home energy rebates and loans

Guelph homeowners can borrow up to $50,000 for a heat pump and other upgrades through the Guelph Greener Homes (waitlist only). For an air-source heat pump, Ontario’s Home Renovation Savings Program pays up to $7,500 if you heat with electricity, oil or propane, or $2,000 with natural gas. The federal National Heat Pump Rebate will add $2,000, or up to $10,000 below the median income, once it opens.

How Guelph Greener Homes works

Waitlist

Guelph Greener Homes provides interest-free loans of up to $50,000 with no admin fee, repaid over 10 years through the property tax bill. A 20% down payment, to a maximum of $10,000, is required. Eligible upgrades include insulation, air sealing, windows and doors, air-source and cold-climate heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, heat recovery, solar PV and solar hot water. Thermostats only qualify alongside other upgrades.
