Before you get heat pump quotes in New Brunswick

The first tip comes from the program’s own steps. Each program’s rules come first.

How Total Home works in N.B.
Register online or call 1-800-663-6272 and choose a service organization. Pay the $99 + HST fee to the energy advisor at the initial evaluation (it covers both visits).
Ask for a cold-climate model
Most Canadian rebates require a cold-climate air-source heat pump on NRCan's qualified product list. Ask each installer for the exact outdoor and indoor model numbers so you can check them.
Insist on a heat-loss calculation
Proper sizing comes from a room-by-room heat-loss calculation, not the size of your old furnace. An oversized unit cycles more and costs more; an undersized one leans on backup heat.
Plan the backup
Decide with your installer whether you keep a furnace as backup (a hybrid system) or go fully electric. The choice can change which rebate tier you qualify for.
