How it works

The program covers part of the cost of energy-efficient equipment and materials in residential rental buildings. Eligible owners include individual homeowners who rent out property, companies, non-profits, care homes, affordable and corporate housing organizations, and government bodies.

Owners register, choose upgrades from the program guidelines, and submit a pre-approval form with contractor quotes. Pre-approval typically takes four to six weeks, and payment is deposited within about 60 days after the completed work is claimed. Funding limits reset every April.
