Window and door rebates in Nova Scotia

The Home Energy Assessment Program (HEA) pays toward ENERGY STAR window or door replacement in Nova Scotia after an energy assessment: $30 per rough opening, up to $5,000 across all upgrades; the amount depends on the size of the job.

2 current programs cover windows and doors in Nova Scotia, from the federal government and the province. Book the energy assessment before any work: HEA won’t pay for upgrades done first. Checked October 19, 2026.

What to know about window and door rebates in Nova Scotia

The first tip comes from the program’s own steps. Each program’s rules come first.

How HEA works in N.S.
If your household may qualify on income, first apply for the Moderate Income Rebate so the assessment fee can be waived. Book an initial assessment with an Efficiency Nova Scotia delivery agent partner ($199 fee unless waived).
Look for ENERGY STAR for your zone
Most programs require ENERGY STAR certified products rated for your climate zone. Ask for the certification on the quote.
Count rough openings
Rebates are usually paid per opening. Programs often set a minimum number of windows or doors per claim.
