Choosing a heat pump water heater in Nova Scotia
The first tip comes from the program’s own steps. Each program’s rules come first.
- How HEA works in N.S.
- If your household may qualify on income, first apply for the Moderate Income Rebate so the assessment fee can be waived. Book an initial assessment with an Efficiency Nova Scotia delivery agent partner ($199 fee unless waived).
- Check the space
- Heat pump water heaters pull heat from the surrounding air and need room around them, ideally in a basement or utility room that stays above about 7 °C.
- Plan the condensate drain
- They produce condensate, so you need a nearby floor drain or a small pump.
- Confirm the model is listed
- Most rebates require an ENERGY STAR certified model. Check the model number before you buy.
