Getting insulation right in Newfoundland and Labrador

The first tip comes from the program’s own steps. Each program’s rules come first.

How takeCHARGE Insulation Rebates program works in N.L.
Install the insulation and keep detailed receipts (number of bags, brand, R-value, coverage). Apply online, or print the form and mail it to the utility that bills you for electricity.
Start with the attic
Attics are usually the cheapest place to add insulation and often have the fastest payback.
Seal before you insulate
Air-seal the attic floor, top plates and penetrations first. Insulation slows heat; it doesn't stop air leaks.
Keep the paperwork
Rebates are often based on the area and R-value added. Ask for invoices that list both, and photos before and after.
