How it works

The monthly payment is added to the electricity bill. Financing is subject to a credit check.

NL Hydro finances heat pumps up to $10,000 over 60 months and attic and basement insulation up to $2,500 over 48 months, at prime plus 4%; the rate in effect when you sign is fixed for the term. Newfoundland Power's plan covers insulation, thermostats, HRVs, R-2000 upgrades, heat pumps and electric heating systems, electric water heaters, electric fireplaces and service upgrades.

Who qualifies

  • You own the home, it is your primary residence and you have an active account with the utility
  • No arrears or recent collection activity, and a satisfactory third-party credit check
  • NL Hydro heat pumps must meet minimum efficiency (HSPF 10 for mini-splits, 9 for multi-splits) and be installed by a certified refrigeration mechanic and registered electrical contractor
