How it works

Since October 1, 2026, Rénoclimat's energy-efficiency stream is a simplified track. The energy evaluation is now optional, with up to $500 to cover it, and the post-work evaluation has been dropped. Grants are paid per square foot or per window up to a cap for each measure: roof insulation at $1.75 per sq ft, exterior wall insulation at $3.50 per sq ft, foundation and floor insulation at $0.50 to $3.50 per sq ft, and ENERGY STAR Most Efficient windows at $300 per opening. Two resilience measures are new: up to $1,000 for a master electrician to connect a backup power source, and up to $4,000 for a fixed home battery. Duplexes, triplexes and buildings of 4 or more units get higher caps. The total for energy work is capped at $21,500 for a house and $31,000 for a duplex, triplex or multi-unit building.

Work must be done on or after October 1, 2026 by a contractor with the matching RBQ licences, who must fill in and sign the program's certificate of compliance. Work you do yourself does not qualify. You apply after the work, within 12 months of finishing it, through a new online portal that Québec says will open during fall 2026.

The new Rénoclimat – Adaptation stream helps principal residences and multi-unit buildings prepare for flooding. Its simplified track covers a sump pump with battery backup, a backflow valve and a removable flood barrier. Its accompanied track, for homes in recognized river-flood zones, starts with a mandatory climate-resilience diagnostic and covers recommended work at 75% of costs up to $35,000. The Adaptation stream is capped at $38,500 per home. This version of the program runs until March 31, 2029, or until its budget runs out.
