What isn't known yet
- The income number, and whether it varies by household size or province.
- Which income counts: before-tax, after-tax, or adjusted net income from your tax return.
- The launch date and the department that will run it.
- Whether heat pumps installed before launch will qualify.
A clue from the program it follows
The federal Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Program, now closed, was for households with median or lower after-tax income. That's a hint at how Ottawa has defined it before, not the rule for the new rebate. See what replaced it.
