How it works

The Clean Home Heating Initiative paid incentives of about $3,000 to $4,500 to homeowners in selected cities who added an air-source heat pump with smart controls to a natural gas furnace. The controls switched between fuels based on cost and efficiency.

The pilot started in 2022 and expanded in 2023. Enbridge stopped accepting participants on February 23, 2024, once all funding was allocated.
