How it works

Through LogisVert, Hydro-Québec supplies and installs a free ENERGY STAR Cold Climate wall-mounted heat pump for eligible modest-income owner-occupants and tenants. Households must first get an Éconologis advisor visit, which screens them for eligibility and passes the file to Hydro-Québec. Homes that can't take a heat pump may get a free smart thermostat instead.

Registration for the 2026–2027 season has closed because demand filled the available places, and applications already received are being processed. Households visited between October 2025 and March 2026 can expect installation between summer 2026 and spring 2027; those visited between October 2026 and March 2027 can expect it from fall 2027. Authorized installers serve Montréal, Laval, Capitale-Nationale, Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, Chaudière-Appalaches, Bas-Saint-Laurent, Montérégie, Mauricie, Côte-Nord and Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine.

On June 29, 2026, Québec and Hydro-Québec announced more than $243 million, including $172.5 million from the federal Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program, to provide free turnkey upgrades to 20,000 low-income households. Heat pumps come first, with doors, windows and smart thermostats planned from 2027.
