How it works
The Heating Affordability Program replaces old, low-efficiency furnaces in income-qualified homes at no cost. Each installation includes a new 96% AFUE natural gas furnace (95% for mobile homes), the venting changes it needs, three filters and a programmable thermostat if the contractor finds one is needed. SaskEnergy estimates savings of up to $650 a year.
There is no direct application. Homeowners first take part in SaskPower's Energy Assistance Program; if the home energy coach finds the home may qualify, SaskEnergy invites the household, CLEAResult verifies income and the furnace, and a SaskEnergy Network contractor quotes and installs the new furnace. SaskEnergy pays the contractor directly.
The current funding round runs from June 30, 2026 to January 31, 2027, or until 50 furnaces have been funded, whichever comes first. The program launched in 2025 and had replaced 37 furnaces before this round.
Who qualifies
- Registered homeowner and SaskEnergy residential customer; primary residence in Saskatchewan (renters and rental properties are not eligible)
- Existing natural gas furnace manufactured on or before December 31, 1999
- Combined pre-tax income of all adults at or below: 1 person $40,400; 2 $50,300; 3 $61,800; 4 $75,000; 5 $85,100; 6 $96,000; 7+ $106,900
- Must have taken part in SaskPower's Energy Assistance Program for the same home
- Not available on First Nations reserves, for new construction, to ATCO customers in Lloydminster, or alongside Saskatchewan Housing's Emergency Home Repairs Program
How to apply
Step 1: Apply to SaskPower's Energy Assistance Program
Step 2: If your home may qualify, SaskEnergy invites you; CLEAResult then verifies income and your furnace
Step 3: Choose a participating SaskEnergy Network contractor, who submits a quote for approval
Step 4: The contractor installs the furnace and SaskEnergy pays them directly
