How it works
SaskEnergy pays a rebate when residential customers replace natural gas space or water heating equipment with a new high-efficiency model from its eligible equipment list. The current amounts are $325 for a furnace rated at least 97% AFUE, $750 per boiler plant (95% AFUE or better, up to 300 MBH), $800 for a combi boiler of at least 95% AFUE, and $1,000 for a tankless water heater (0.87 UEF or better) or a condensing water heater (0.80 UEF or better).
The equipment must be installed in a Saskatchewan home as part of its main space or water heating system by a gas contractor holding a valid Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan licence. Self-installs, used or rebuilt units, new construction and replacements of equipment still under the manufacturer's warranty do not qualify. Applications are due within 120 days of installation.
Heat recovery ventilators and standard storage-tank water heaters are not on the current eligible list. Revised program terms took effect August 17, 2026, and funding is limited.
Who qualifies
- SaskEnergy residential customer who paid the invoice and is the registered homeowner, landlord or rental company representative
- New natural gas unit from SaskEnergy's eligible equipment list, used for the home's main space or water heating
- Installed by a gas contractor with a valid TSASK licence; self-installs are not eligible
- Not eligible: new construction, garages, gifted or prize units, or replacing equipment still under manufacturer's warranty
- Separately metered row or duplex units and insurance-claim replacements can qualify
How to apply
Step 1: Check that the model is on SaskEnergy's eligible equipment list before buying
Step 2: Have a TSASK-licensed gas contractor install it
Step 3: Apply online within 120 days of installation with the paid invoice
Step 4: SaskEnergy pays by cheque, e-Transfer or bill credit within about six weeks of approval
