How it works

The City of Joliette's ecological transition grants include help for low-carbon heating and home EV charging. Most heating amounts are top-ups that require approval from a provincial or Hydro-Québec program first, and you must apply within 3 months of that approval.

Hydro-Joliette customers who install a heat storage system (accumulateur de chaleur) approved under LogisVert can get $500 per dwelling. The city also pays a grant when oil, propane or dual-energy heating was replaced with approval from Chauffez vert. For a detached house, that is up to $1,275 for oil, $850 for propane or $650 for dual-energy, or the cost of the work if lower. Lower per-unit amounts apply to semi-detached, row and multi-unit buildings, up to 20 units.

For home EV chargers, the city pays 25% of the after-tax cost, up to $250 per connector and $500 per site, in buildings of 1 to 4 dwellings. In buildings of 5 or more dwellings, it pays up to $500 per connector. A single-family home needs approval under the provincial home charger program first.

Who qualifies

  • Owner of a residential building in Joliette.
  • Heat storage: Hydro-Joliette customer with an approved LogisVert application.
  • Oil, propane or dual-energy replacement: approved Chauffez vert application.
  • EV charger: proof of ownership or residence and invoices for the charger and installation. Single-family homes and buildings of 5+ units need provincial home charger approval.
  • The request must be made within 3 months of the provincial or Hydro-Québec approval.

How to apply

  1. Step 1: Get your LogisVert, Chauffez vert or provincial home charger approval first.

  2. Step 2: Download the city's form for heating equipment or for EV chargers from the Programmes et subventions page.

  3. Step 3: Send the form with proof of ownership, purchase and installation invoices and proof of approval to the Service de l'Aménagement du territoire, 614, boulevard Manseau, or urbanisme@ville.joliette.qc.ca.

  4. Step 4: The city may inspect the installation before paying.
