How it works
Home Energy Retrofits pays homeowners for the total energy savings of a major renovation instead of per product. An energy advisor completes an EnerGuide evaluation before and after the work, and the rebate is $75 per gigajoule (GJ) of annual energy saved up to the typical new-home rating and $150 per GJ saved beyond that.
The project must significantly reduce the home's site energy use, and at least half of the reduction must come from building envelope upgrades such as walls, attics, windows and doors. You must apply before any work starts.
This offer replaces Efficiency Manitoba's individual rebates for the same work: it cannot be combined with the insulation, windows and doors, heat pump or solar rebates, except for ground source heat pumps.
Who qualifies
- Owner of a single-detached, duplex or triplex home occupied year-round (seasonal homes and new homes are not eligible)
- Home uses electricity or natural gas supplied by Manitoba Hydro
- Pre-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation completed and application approved before work starts
- At least 50% of the energy savings come from building envelope upgrades
- No Efficiency Manitoba rebate already paid for any measure in the project
How to apply
Step 1: Book an EnerGuide evaluation with a service organization in your area
Step 2: Send Efficiency Manitoba the evaluation documents and your retrofit plan before starting work
Step 3: Complete the renovation; your energy advisor does a final evaluation to measure savings
Step 4: Submit the final documents to receive your rebate

Many rebates need an EnerGuide assessment before any work starts. We'll pass your request to up to 2 energy advisors who serve your area. Free to ask, no obligation; the advisor quotes their fee, and some programs rebate part of it.
