How it works
The District of Central Saanich lends up to $12,000 at 0% interest to help homeowners switch from an oil, propane or natural gas furnace or boiler to an electric heat pump. The District pays your approved contractor, and you repay the District through your property tax bill over 10 years.
The pilot is finished and the program is now ongoing, but spaces are very limited: the District says current funding supports four homes in 2026. You need a pre-upgrade EnerGuide evaluation and quotes from a contractor on the program's registered list, and you must sign the financing agreement before work begins.
Who qualifies
- Eligible home type within the District of Central Saanich.
- The home must be heated mainly by an oil, propane or natural gas furnace or boiler. Replacing broken heating equipment does not qualify.
- Property taxes must be in good standing.
- A pre-upgrade EnerGuide evaluation is required, and quotes must come from contractors on the Registered Contractors List.
- You must apply and sign a financing agreement before any work begins.
How to apply
Step 1: Review the program Terms and Conditions on the District's page.
Step 2: Email climate@csaanich.ca or call 250-652-5789 to confirm a space is available.
Step 3: Complete the 2026 Registration Form and submit it through the secure portal. The administrator sends a pre-approval notice and status updates by email.
