Getting insulation right in the Northwest Territories
The first tip comes from the program’s own steps. Each program’s rules come first.
- How Home Insulation Rebates program works in N.W.T.
- Download the Residential Insulation Rebate Application Form from AEA. Complete the work and submit the form with paid receipts by mail, email (info@aea.nt.ca), fax or in person.
- Start with the attic
- Attics are usually the cheapest place to add insulation and often have the fastest payback.
- Seal before you insulate
- Air-seal the attic floor, top plates and penetrations first. Insulation slows heat; it doesn't stop air leaks.
- Keep the paperwork
- Rebates are often based on the area and R-value added. Ask for invoices that list both, and photos before and after.
