How it works

Arctic Energy Alliance pays rebates on everyday efficient products for residents, businesses, non-profits and community and Indigenous governments. For the April 2026 to March 2027 fiscal year it raised the maximums for wood and pellet stoves, programmable thermostats and ECM pumps, and set the same amounts for hydro and non-hydro communities (except LED lighting). Products no longer have to be bought in the NWT, but they must be new, bought in Canada and installed in the NWT.

Apply within three months of the purchase date with a paid receipt and proof of NWT residence if the receipt has no address. Households can claim up to two of each product type per year (five for programmable thermostats, ECM pumps and plug-in controllers). In 14 communities, select Northern and NorthMart stores take the LED and clothes washer rebate off at the till.

Rebates are not available for fossil-fuel heating systems, or for LED lighting in hydro communities (Behchokǫ̀, Dettah, Enterprise, Fort Resolution, Fort Smith, Hay River, Kátł'odeeche, Ndilǫ and Yellowknife).
