Short answer

Since October 1, 2026, the split is clear. LogisVert pays for heat pumps, geothermal and electric thermal storage. Rénoclimat pays for insulation, windows, fixed batteries and flood protection, and no longer covers heat pumps. You can use both on one home for different work, but not for the same work.

Which program pays for your upgrade

  • Heat pump: LogisVert. It pays $50 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8 °C for an ENERGY STAR unit and $120 for an ENERGY STAR Cold Climate unit. Our LogisVert guide has an estimator.
  • Wall or foundation insulation, windows: Rénoclimat. Walls earn $3.50 per sq ft, up to $7,000 for a house, and windows $300 per opening, up to $4,500.
  • Roof insulation: either one, not both. LogisVert pays $1,500 if the whole roof reaches R-50 and every listed air-leak point is caulked, in an electrically heated house. Rénoclimat pays $1.75 per sq ft, up to $2,000 for a house.

Using both programs on one home

The rule is about the work, not the home. A LogisVert heat pump and Rénoclimat wall insulation on the same house is fine. Claiming the same roof insulation from both is not: if another government body or Hydro-Québec program has already paid for that work, LogisVert won’t, and Rénoclimat can’t be combined with other aid for the same work.

Watch the claim windows too. LogisVert gives you 9 months from installation, and Rénoclimat 12 months from finishing the work. Keep every invoice and photo, since the Rénoclimat portal isn’t open yet.

What changed on October 1, 2026

Rénoclimat was overhauled. The energy evaluation became optional, with up to $500 covered, and the post-work evaluation was dropped. Heat pumps, doors, air sealing and ventilation are no longer covered. Fixed home batteries, backup power connections and a flood-adaptation stream were added.

If your home had a pre-work evaluation under the old rules, or you requested one by October 12, 2026, you can finish under the old rules. The post-work evaluation must be done by March 31, 2027. This version of Rénoclimat runs until March 31, 2029, or until its budget runs out. More on the evaluation in EnerGuide home evaluation.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, for different work. A LogisVert heat pump and Rénoclimat wall insulation on the same house is allowed. You can't claim the same work, such as roof insulation, from both.

No. Since October 1, 2026, Rénoclimat no longer covers heat pumps, doors, air sealing or ventilation. Use LogisVert for an air-source or geothermal heat pump.

Not yet. Québec says the new online portal will open during fall 2026. You can start eligible work now under the new rules and apply within 12 months of finishing it, so keep every document.

Not for LogisVert. For Rénoclimat it has been optional since October 1, 2026. The program covers up to $500 of it when you submit it with at least one eligible energy measure.

  • EnerGuide home evaluation

A standard home energy assessment, done by an NRCan-registered energy advisor, that measures air leakage with a blower door test and gives the home an EnerGuide rating and a list of recommended upgrades.

  • Heat pump capacity at -8 °C (BTU/h)

The amount of heat, in BTU per hour, that an air-source heat pump can still deliver when it is -8 °C outside. Hydro-Québec’s LogisVert grant is calculated from it.

  • Rebate stacking

Claiming more than one program for the same home upgrade, such as a provincial rebate and a city loan for one heat pump, within each program’s rules on combining.
