How it works
Homes Beyond Code rewards new homes built to perform better than the minimum energy code. An energy advisor models the home, completes an as-built EnerGuide assessment with a blower door test, and confirms the tier it reaches under section 9.36 of the National Building Code.
Homeowners of qualifying homes receive $3,000 for Tier 3 (20% more efficient than Tier 1), $5,000 for Tier 4 (40% more efficient) or $9,000 for Tier 5 (70% more efficient and net zero energy ready). Tiers 1 and 2 do not qualify. A separate rebate is paid to the builder.
The builder's application must be approved first; the homeowner then applies within 120 days of natural gas service being transferred into their name, and SaskEnergy mails the cheque in about six to eight weeks.

Step 3: Apply online within 120 days of natural gas service being transferred into your name
