How it works

Roulez vert has been reduced every year since 2024 and ends on December 31, 2026. For vehicles registered in 2026, the maximums are $2,000 for a new battery-electric or hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle, $1,000 for a plug-in hybrid with a battery of 15 kWh or more, $500 for a smaller plug-in hybrid (8 to under 15 kWh), $500 for an electric motorcycle, and $1,000 for an eligible used battery-electric or fuel-cell vehicle. Nothing is paid for vehicles registered in 2027.

Only the registration date counts. Ordering or putting down a deposit earlier does not lock in a higher amount. New vehicles must be on the eligible list and have a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) under $65,000; option packages and features such as all-wheel drive or a bigger battery are added to the price when checking that limit. Leases of 12 months or more qualify, with 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of the amount for terms of 12, 24, 36 or 48+ months. Used vehicles must be 1 to 4 model years old and bought from a Québec dealer.

Most buyers get the rebate at the dealership, applied directly to the contract, and you can also apply online yourself. The program was suspended from February 1 to March 31, 2025, and vehicles registered in that window are not eligible. Home charger grants moved to the separate Écorecharge program on March 17, 2026.

Who qualifies

  • Vehicle registered in Québec in your name in 2026 (the registration date sets the amount)
  • Model on the government's list of eligible new or used vehicles
  • New vehicles: MSRP under $65,000, including option packages and upgraded components; first registration must be in Québec (demo vehicles under 10,000 km count as new)
  • Purchases or leases of 12 months or more; leases of 48 months or more get the full amount
  • The vehicle must stay registered in Québec for at least 12 months (personal use)
  • Vehicles registered between 2025-02-01 and 2025-03-31 are ineligible

How to apply

  1. Step 1: Check that the model is on the eligible vehicle list on Québec.ca.

  2. Step 2: Ask a participating dealer to apply the rebate directly on the purchase or lease contract, or apply online yourself after the vehicle is registered in your name.

  3. Step 3: Make sure the vehicle is registered on or before December 31, 2026.
