How it works

The Elders Housing Program provides counselling and grants to help Elders and people with disabilities stay in their homes. The annual preventative maintenance grant (up to $5,000) covers upkeep of heating, plumbing, electrical systems and appliances. The one-time grant (up to $30,000) covers accessibility changes such as ramps, stair lifts and bathroom modifications, equipment requested by medical professionals, and other repairs that improve living conditions.

There is no maximum income, but applications are point-rated, with more weight given to lower-income households. The program can be combined with the Home Renovation Program.
