How it works
OHPA covered the cost of a cold-climate ducted or ductless heat pump for oil-heated homes in Nova Scotia, with payment sent directly to the contractor after the installation close-out paperwork was submitted.
Efficiency Nova Scotia stopped accepting applications on July 2, 2026 because the Nova Scotia funding was fully allocated. Complete applications received before that date, and households on the standby list, are still reviewed if funding becomes available, but neither guarantees funding.
Who qualifies
- Owner-occupied primary residence in Nova Scotia
- Home mainly heated by oil, using at least 500 litres in the previous 12 months (proof of purchases required)
- After-tax household income at or below: 1 person $37,260; 2 people $77,050; 3 people $98,900; 4 people $120,750; 5+ people $126,500 (line 23600 minus line 43500)
- Only cold-climate centrally ducted or ductless mini-split air-source heat pumps qualified
