Which one first, and what to do before you install

Home Renovation Savings heat pumps go through a participating contractor, who submits the application, and installation must wait for pre-approval. The National Heat Pump Rebate, as announced, also approves you before you buy, then pays after you upload receipts. Read the Home Renovation Savings guide and the National Heat Pump Rebate guide.

Honest downsides of each

  • Home Renovation Savings: gas-heated homes get the lower rate; you need a participating contractor and pre-approval; rented heat pumps get less.
  • National Heat Pump Rebate: not open, no launch date, and the income cut-off for the larger amount isn't published. See who might get $10,000.
