What happened to SolarHomes

  1. Funding runs out; homeowner applications stop

  2. Approved projects must be finished

SolarHomes rebated part of the cost of grid-tied solar panels for homeowners. Demand exhausted the funding in spring 2025; applications were first come, first served, with later submissions waitlisted.

Efficiency Nova Scotia still runs a solar rebate pilot for registered non-profits and charities, but there is no current provincial solar rebate for homeowners.

The full record, with every source we checked, is on the SolarHomes program page. Every change we log is on the rebate tracker.

If you already applied

A closed program usually still honours files it accepted before the cut-off, on its own deadlines. Follow up with Efficiency Nova Scotia directly: we don't take applications and can't check a file for you.

Planning new work? Some replacements need pre-approval or an energy assessment before anything is installed. Read the guide to stacking heat pump rebates for the order to do things in, and how to spot a rebate scam before you sign with anyone who mentions a "government program".
