How it works
The City of Nanaimo tops up BC Hydro's EV charger rebates. Owners or residents of single-family homes, duplexes, row houses and townhouses can get $150 toward buying and installing an eligible Level 2 charger.
Apartment and condo buildings can get up to $1,000 for an EV Ready Plan and $100 per parking space for the electrical infrastructure the plan calls for. The City's criteria match BC Hydro's, but you apply to the City and to BC Hydro separately. Funding is first come, first served until it runs out.
Who qualifies
- You live in or own property in Nanaimo, and the charger is installed in Nanaimo.
- Charger, plan or infrastructure installed or completed on or after May 1, 2023.
- Requirements match BC Hydro's home and multi-unit EV charger rebate criteria, including an electrical permit.
How to apply
Step 1: Apply on the City's online form with the charger invoice, installation invoice, electrical permit number and a photo of the installed charger.
Step 2: Submit a separate application to BC Hydro for its rebate.
Step 3: Buildings: submit the EV Ready Plan and invoice first, then the infrastructure quote and final application after installation.
