How it works

The grant, created in 2021, pays 50% of the cost of a home renewable electricity system up to $30,000. Applicants pay upfront and are reimbursed after submitting receipts. The Government of Nunavut's Sustainable Energy Support Policy, which replaced the 2021 policy, says support for homeowner energy programs continues.

The home must first be approved for Qulliq Energy Corporation's net metering program, which accepts residential systems of up to 15 kW (AC). Qulliq Energy recommends not buying a system until your net metering application has been reviewed and approved.

Who qualifies

  • Homeowner within a Nunavut municipal boundary
  • Qulliq Energy net metering approval before installing (systems up to 15 kW AC)

How to apply

  1. Step 1: Email renewableenergy@gov.nu.ca to confirm the grant is available and how to apply

  2. Step 2: Apply to Qulliq Energy's net metering program (renewableenergy@qec.nu.ca) and wait for approval

  3. Step 3: Install and submit receipts for reimbursement
