How it works

The Manitoba EV rebate gives $4,000 for a new eligible battery-electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle and $2,500 for a used one. Leases of at least 12 months qualify on a sliding scale: $1,000 to $4,000 for new vehicles and $625 to $2,500 for used vehicles, depending on lease length. New vehicles must have an MSRP under $70,000, and used vehicles a purchase price under $70,000. In 2026 the vehicle must be a 2023 model year or newer (2024 or newer in 2027).

The vehicle must be bought or leased from an authorized Manitoba dealer and stay registered in Manitoba in the owner's name for at least 12 months. Teslas and EVs made in China bought after March 19, 2025 are not eligible, and a used vehicle that already received a rebate cannot get another.

The program first ran from July 1, 2024 to March 31, 2026 and was extended in Manitoba's Budget 2026. Funding is first come, first served. Buyers who receive the federal EV incentive can also apply.

Who qualifies

  • Manitoba resident, business, First Nation or municipality (Crown corporations and governments excluded)
  • Bought or leased from an authorized Manitoba dealer; private sales and out-of-province purchases do not qualify
  • Model year 2023 or newer in 2026 (2024 or newer in 2027)
  • Registered in Manitoba in the owner's name for at least 12 months
  • Not a Tesla or China-built EV bought after March 19, 2025; one rebate per person or organization and per vehicle
