How it works
Launched in May 2019, iZEV gave buyers and lessees of eligible zero-emission vehicles a point-of-sale incentive of up to $5,000, or up to $2,500 for plug-in hybrids with less than 50 km of electric range.
Transport Canada warned on January 10, 2025 that funding was nearly used up and paused the program on January 12, 2025, after receiving more than 559,000 reimbursement requests. The program officially closed on March 31, 2025.
If you are shopping for an EV now, the replacement is the Electric Vehicle Affordability Program, which started on February 16, 2026.
