How it works

An AEA energy advisor visits and models your home, then recommends upgrades. The Government of the Northwest Territories subsidizes evaluations of existing homes: $200 plus GST for a single-family house, $300 with one secondary suite and $400 with two. Reports are usually ready about two weeks after the visit.

For new homes, AEA gives free advice during planning. The City of Yellowknife requires EnerGuide evaluations for new homes, which AEA provides for a fee: $350 to $750 plus GST for the plan evaluation depending on the home, and $550 plus GST (plus $100 per suite) for the final as-built evaluation.
