You can claim single upgrades such as a heat pump, attic insulation, solar with a battery, a smart thermostat or ENERGY STAR appliances without an energy assessment, or do an assessment and two or more upgrades for envelope rebates.","description":"Home Renovation Savings is run jointly by Save on Energy and Enbridge Gas, with support from the Ontario government. It started on January 28, 2025, replacing Enbridge's Home Efficiency Rebate, and has two tracks.\n\nIn the no-assessment track you claim one or more single upgrades: cold-climate air-source or ground-source heat pumps, attic insulation, rooftop solar with optional battery storage, smart thermostats and ENERGY STAR Most Efficient appliances. Heat pumps and attic insulation go through a participating contractor, and heat pumps need pre-approval before installation.\n\nIn the assessment track a registered energy advisor does a first assessment, you complete at least two recommended upgrades, and the advisor does a follow-up assessment. This track covers attic, wall, foundation, crawlspace and exposed-floor insulation, windows and doors, air sealing and heat pump water heaters, and refunds $600 of the assessment costs. Completing three or more upgrades adds a $500 bonus. Total assessment-track rebates are capped at $5,000 for homes heated by Enbridge natural gas and $10,000 for homes heated by electricity, oil, propane or wood.\n\nHeat pump rebates depend on how the home is heated now. Homes heated by electricity, oil, propane or wood get the highest per-ton amounts. Homes heated by Enbridge natural gas, and heat pumps that are rented rather than bought, get lower amounts.\n\nThe solar and battery rebates cover rooftop systems built for load displacement only, so you cannot also sign a net-metering agreement, and a battery must be installed with new solar. You need written pre-approval before buying or installing solar or storage equipment.","maxAmount":12000,"amountDisplay":"Up to $7,500 for an air-source heat pump ($12,000 ground-source) in homes not heated by gas; several upgrades can be combined","fundingType":"rebate","incentives":[{"measure":"Cold-climate air-source heat pump (home heated by electricity, oil, propane or wood)","amount":"$1,250 per ton, up to $7,500","maxAmount":7500,"notes":"Based on rated heating capacity at 8.3°C.
